Ganjam (Gopalpur)
The Army Air defence college in collaboration with NIST University successfully organized the International Conference on Air Defence and Security (ICADS-2026) on Feb 12th-13th, 2026. The conference attracted substantial interest, receiving over 350 abstracts, of which 57 were accepted for publication in IEEE conference proceeding.


The conference commenced with the inaugural session at the Stephen Hawking cineplex, attended by Dr. Binoy K. Das, Director General of DRDO, Bengaluru graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest and Shri Gokul Chandra Pati, Former Chief secretary of Odisha joined as Guest of Honor. Brig. Sidharth Malik, Commander, Mechanised Air Defence Brigade, Col Manoj Yadav, Army Air Defence College, Gopalpur, Dr. Niladri Roy, Scientist ‘G’ and Additional Director, ITR Chandipur, and Maj General Atanu K. Patnaik (Retd) joined as special guests.


The event was graced by President of the NIST university Dr. Sukant K Mohapatra, and welcome address by Vice-chancellor Dr. Priyadarsan Patra, followed by Keynote Address delivered by Dr Binay Das, Dr. Niladri Roy, SC-G, Addl, DR, ITR Chandipur and Major General Atanu K. Patnaik, (Retd), Indian Army focusing on contemporary air defence challenges and emerging technological developments.

Subsequently, parallel technical sessions were conducted, during which selected authors presented papers on the approved conference sub-themes.
A Vendor Exhibition was also organised, which provided a platform for the display of defence-related technologies and research initiatives.

The highlight of the conference was the captivating session featuring keynote speakers Dr. Noor Zaman Jhanjhi, Senior Professor, Taylor’s University, Malaysia, Keynote Address, Dr. Ali Yuce, Professor, Cappadocia University, Turkey. Dr. Anshuman Roy, Rhombus Intl (hybrid mode), Dr. Balamati Choudhury, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIRNAL, Bangalore. The conference was sponsored by DRDO.

Subsequently, parallel technical sessions were conducted, during which selected authors presented papers on the approved conference sub-themes.The first Day activities concluded with a cultural programme presented by students of NIST University.
